Cook County entrepreneurs just received a bit more time to bolster their financial ambitions. In an announcement echoed from the President's office, Toni Preckwinkle has extended the deadline for the Catalyst Grant applications. Originally set to close on Oct. 31, 2025, business owners now have until Nov. 14, 2025, to submit for a chance to secure $100,000 in growth funds.

It seems the grant, aimed at already established businesses generating substantial annual revenue, seeks to inject capital into operations capable of making a broader economic impact. With a focus on industries such as construction, IT, and manufacturing, the program targets sectors poised for accelerated growth in Cook County, according to the county's announcement.

"We want to ensure as many eligible businesses as possible are aware of the Catalyst Grant, which provides a unique opportunity to scale up operations, accelerating the journey to sustainable success," Preckwinkle stated. Her administration emphasizes the importance of a strong support network and resource availability for local enterprises.

Interested companies must have a presence in Cook County and fall within specific revenue boundaries set between 2023 and 2024, demonstrating growth during that period. The funds disbursed must be applied toward operational expansions, facility upgrades, or workforce development. A detailed rundown of the application process and eligibility criteria is available on the grant's dedicated webpage.

Support for applicants is offered by the Cook County Small Business Source, including a help desk and a video guide for navigating the application requirements. Allied organizations, like the Women’s Business Development Center and Allies for Community Business, are administering the grant, providing additional assistance channels through The Source's network.

Business owners who throw their hats into the ring will be notified of their application status early next year, with the distribution of grants scheduled for the spring of 2026. More information on the Catalyst Grant, as well as how to apply, is available by visiting the Cook County Small Business Source's website.
