Gearing up for a day of community and charity, the Coon Rapids Senior Center invites locals to their annual Senior Bazaar & Flea Market. Taking place on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Civic Center, located at 11155 Robinson Drive, the bazaar promises an array of crafts, home décor, a dedicated Christmas Room, and a bake sale—all in the spirit of giving, as proceeds will go towards supporting local charities. The Super Senior Club is playing host for the event, ensuring that patrons will not only find treasures to take home but also contribute to a good cause.
Before the festivities begin, the Senior Center is calling for donations. Sought items include Christmas decorations, jewelry, books, and new or gently used items, providing they aren't clothing, shoes, electronics, plants, or furniture. The Senior Center is taking measures to ensure all goods for sale are presentable, asking that "We cannot accept items that are broken, dirty, have missing parts or have been boxed up for decades," according to the call for donations posted on their website. Residents looking to contribute can drop off their donations from Nov. 3 to Nov. 7, between the hours of 10 a.m. and Noon.
There's an important detail for donors to bear in mind. Volunteers will lend their hands to help move boxes into the building, but this assistance is strictly limited to the designated drop-off times. The Senior Center emphasizes that donations should not be left outside these hours to avoid exposure to weather or security risks. This guidance is clear; they draw a line where "Please do not drop off your donations on any other date or time as they will be subject to weather conditions and will not be secure," underscoring the need for adherence to the given schedule for the benefit and safety of everyone involved.
