To help with rising home insurance costs in Jefferson Parish, Councilwoman At-Large Jennifer Van Vrancken is teaming up with local building and education groups to host two events for homeowners. Called "Storm Savings," these events will offer tips on protecting homes from storms and saving money on insurance, according to the Jefferson Parish.
The first of these sessions is scheduled for Monday, October 20, at 6 p.m. at the Westbank Regional Library, located at 2751 Manhattan Blvd, Harvey, it promises to bring experts and exhibitors under one roof, providing critical knowledge and resources; the second session follows on Monday, October 27, at 6 p.m. at the Eastbank Regional Library, situated at 4747 West Napoleon, Metairie, as announced on the Jefferson Parish official website. Both sessions are open to the public without charge, offering a unique opportunity to learn and engage with professionals in a convivial setting.
"As I speak with homeowners across the Parish, the skyrocketing cost of insurance comes up continuously as a concern," Van Vrancken was quoted, emphasizing the urgency to "empower home owners in Jefferson Parish to take advantage of any and all incentives to drive down the crushing cost of property insurance," as stated by the Jefferson Parish. The events will focus on providing actionable tips such as how to obtain a storm survey of one's home, understanding the difference between standard roofing and 'fortified' roofing, plus insights into grants and tax incentives that may offset the costs to storm-proof homes.
