A tragic workplace accident at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas resulted in the death of a man yesterday. According to FOX 4 News, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Greenville Avenue, where a burial vault fell and pinned the worker from the waist down.
Dallas Fire-Rescue dispatched their Urban Search and Rescue team to assist, although the initial firefighters on-scene were able to quickly lift the vault off of the man. They used hydraulic spreaders and airbags, tools more commonly associated to extricate victims in vehicle accidents, to potentially free up the worker. Nevertheless, he sustained serious lower-body injuries and was transported immediately to a local hospital.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Dallas Fire-Rescue later confirmed to WFAA that the worker succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening around 5:12 P.M. The name of the victim has not been released, and at this time, the accident's specific cause remains unclear.
