
In a tragic turn of events along U.S. 92 in Volusia County, a man’s life was claimed by a series of hit-and-run collisions. The Florida Highway Patrol has reported that the pedestrian was hit by multiple vehicles after first being struck by a vehicle's side mirror while crossing outside of a marked crosswalk on International Speedway Boulevard, east of Calle Alto Vista. The multi-vehicle incident occurred at around midnight, with all involved drivers failing to stop and render aid or await authorities.
According to ClickOrlando, the victim, a 54-year-old Deltona man, was initially struck such that he fell to the ground and was then hit by several other vehicles. Regrettably, the FHP announced that he was pronounced dead at the scene. The original driver was traveling westbound in the outside lane when their vehicle’s left side mirror made contact with the man.
The local news station WFTV reports that the exact identity of the initial vehicle, along with the others involved, has not been determined. In the wake of the incident, authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the affected motorists.
