
A fatal collision took place on LA 16 near Vincent Road in Livingston Parish, causing the death of a local Denham Springs man, as reported by Louisiana State Police Troop A. Billy Deloach, age 79, was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger when the accident occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. yesterday, October 22.
The initial findings of the investigation indicated that Deloach was exiting a private driveway and attempted an eastward crossing of LA 16 to another driveway during this attempt the 2016 Lexus RX 350, traveling eastbound, collided with the passenger side of Deloach's vehicle. At this juncture, it remains unclear whether Deloach was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision which led to injuries that proved fatal following his transport to a local hospital.
The Lexus's driver, who was confirmed to have been using restraints properly, did not sustain injuries, and impairment has not been suspected as a contributing element in the incident – standard toxicology samples were, however, obtained for further scrutiny.
