Last weekend, downtown Milton transformed into a Halloween haven, brimming with festive activities for its "Carvin' in Crabapple" event. A reported crowd of about 1,500 people, families and kids in tow, dressed in their Halloween best, swept through the streets to indulge in a variety of seasonal fun. According to the City of Milton's news release, the offerings ranged from pumpkin carving stations equipped with safe utensils and craft supplies for creating that perfect jack o’ lantern to a lively giant inflatable slide.
Food trucks serving both savory snacks and sweet confections lined Broadwell Road, and for those looking for a less sugary pass-time, the option to watch SEC football on a big screen was available. The arts and crafts section kept the creative juices flowing as kids and parents tested their artistic skills, while a new addition to this year's event, a professional caricaturist, captured smiling faces in whimsical sketches.
Across from the carving activities, the Milton Police Department and Karate Atlanta hosted a “Trunk or Treat” event, giving children an early and safe start to their Halloween festivities. The costume contest featured creative entries, including young Viking dragon trainers and a mini version of Ariel. The city’s gratitude was extended to all participants: "We hope that it helped you get Halloween started on the right foot, and that you finish it with a flourish later this week," as noted by the city's website.
