The City of Duluth is calling on its residents to participate in an upcoming public meeting concerning the construction of key segments within the Campus Connector trail expansion project, which aims to enhance connectivity and safety for the city's students and residents alike. Today, the meeting will present the scope and impact of constructing segments four and five, spanning from College Street to Woodland Avenue and from St. Marie Street to Vermillion Road, as documented by the City of Duluth. Among the primary enhancements are the installation of a modern water main and the replacement of lead service lines along College Street, also the complete overhaul of St. Marie Street - extending from Woodland Avenue to Wallace Avenue will be reconstructed, and other roadway sections are set to experience milling and overlay processes. Moreover, the plan includes the creation of bumpouts that protrude into the street at intersections, thereby shortening crossing distances and augmenting pedestrian safety. The project will also see the erection of Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons, which are designed to grab drivers' attention, make crossing the streets safer for pedestrians.
