Community engagement took a sweet turn in East Boston as officers from District A-7 of the Boston Police Department joined local seniors for their annual picnic at Piers Park. The event, designed to foster connections between law enforcement and community members, featured classic picnic staples and activities, including conversation, lunch, and several rounds of Bingo.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the BPD Ice Cream Truck made a special appearance, generously providing complimentary ice cream to attendees. The sweet treat, funded by the Boston Police Foundation’s COP fund and local dairy company HP Hood, helped to lightly turn a regular community gathering into a memorable occasion for all involved.
According to a post on the official Boston Police Department website, "The afternoon was filled with conversation, lunch, and rounds of Bingo that brought lots of smiles." This statement underscores the department's commitment to not only protect but also to actively engage in a positive manner with the citizens they are sworn to serve.
