The recent gathering at Southern Utah University marked a significant moment for members of the Eastern Leaders Academy, who took their monthly Experience Day to new heights by spending three immersive days at the One Utah Summit, from Oct. 6-8. Designed to bring leaders from various societal pillars together, the summit offered a platform to discuss innovation, economic development, and collaboration that are shaping Utah's future, according to USU Today.
Notably, the summit opened with an inaugural addition called Emergence Day: A Changemaker's Gathering. The event drew leadership programs from across rural Utah and beyond international waters, all looking to build a network and exchange ideas on driving constructive progress within their communities, the essence of what the Eastern Leaders Academy represents.
The substantiveness of the event unfolded further as Oct. 7 welcomed dialogues spanning critical sectors such as energy and tourism, presenting the academy participants with a clearer perspective of their state's economic priorities and the complexities of the industries integral to local prosperity. Through keynotes and panel discussions, attendees delved into the strategic underpinnings of Utah's economic landscape, as reported by USU Today.
The summit's culmination honored the exertions of leaders who infuse their communities with direction and purpose, during which Commissioner Jared Haddock received the Transformational Leadership Award. Lending his expertise and commitment, Haddock has been pivotal in fostering the growth of the Eastern Leaders Academy and, by extension, enhancing the fabric of eastern Utah's local leadership—a testament to the transformative power the Academy and its affiliates hope to channel into the region’s future.
As the 2025-2026 ELA cohort pushes forward, participants carry with them fresh insights gained from this enriching leadership quest, aimed at fortifying the backbone of the Carbon and Emery counties' communities. With Haddock's recognition and the Academy's ongoing mission to nurture governance and innovation, the footprint of this leadership development program continues to expand, signifying the importance of investing in servant leadership and progressive change, as detailed by USU Today.
