Heads up, Edmond commuters: a section of E. Coffee Creek Road is getting a makeover, and that means you'll need to find an alternative route if you're used to passing through. Starting November 3, the stretch between N. Broadway and N. Bryant Avenue will be closed to through traffic, as announced by the City of Edmond on their website. The closure allows crews from Oklahoma County District 3 to work on enhancing stormwater and drainage systems, alongside reconstructing the road surface.
While this may cramp your commute, the closure isn't a complete roadblock. Local traffic, including residents and businesses along the affected area, will still be granted access. The city has scheduled 60 to 90 days for the project to reach completion, with the caveat of cooperative weather. That means if the skies play nice, you could be driving on a freshly-paved E. Coffee Creek Road by early 2026. But, as any seasoned driver knows, always expect the unexpected when it comes to roadworks.
Drivers who frequent this route should already be plotting their detours. With the busy holiday season approaching, it's especially important to account for extra travel time. The recommended plan is to adjust routes and schedules well in advance of November 3 to dodge any potential delays.
