An El Paso County man has been taken into custody on charges of drunken driving after a crash that officials say involved very high blood alcohol levels. The incident, which took place near the intersection of Celum Road and Coffin Road, unfolded in early Saturday evening, October 25, as confirmed by a social media post from El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte.
Responding deputies found the responsible driver, 39-year-old Victor Rodriguez Jr., exhibiting signs that were clear indicators of intoxication. Breath tests revealed Rodriguez Jr. had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level significantly beyond the state's legal limit. The tests read 0.411 and 0.421, figures that are to drastically exceed the Texas limit of 0.08. Following the results, Rodriguez Jr. was arrested and processed at the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Charged with Driving While Intoxicated 2nd, Rodriguez Jr. now faces the legal consequences of his actions. The charge comes with a bond set at $7,000. Such high BAC readings are rarely noted in driving incidents, pointing to a severe case of impairment that could have led to devastating outcomes.
