Last week, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT) successfully carried out a high-risk operation. In collaboration with the Montezuma County Sheriff's Office, the team conducted an operation to extract and extradite Cameron B. White, a 39-year-old man wanted on a felony warrant. The coordination took place away from El Paso, specifically at the Montezuma County Jail, where White had been held since October 1, for separate, unrelated charges.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, the operation occurred without incident on Tuesday, October 7. The SRT's involvement came after White had previously shown resistance to law enforcement efforts during an earlier transport attempt. After a successful cell extraction in Montezuma, White was immediately transported back to the El Paso County Jail.
Cameron B. White now faces a slew of serious charges in El Paso County. These include Second-Degree Assault, Crimes Against an At-Risk Person, and First-Degree Criminal Trespass. The SRT's actions were commended by Sheriff Joseph Roybal, who noted the importance of extradition in the criminal justice system: "I want to thank Sheriff Nowlin and his team for their assistance, as well as our Special Response Team members for their collaborative work in ensuring justice for victims across Colorado." Sheriff Roybal's statement highlighted the teamwork underpinning such operations, as obtained by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
