The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has put a stop to a case of illegal dumping happening in a desert area, thanks to a tip from a conscientious community member, according to a recent social media post by El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte.
On a balmy October afternoon, deputies arrived at the scene on the 200 block of Farnborough Street, where they were informed by the reporting party that a man was seen discarding rocks and, true to the claim, deputies found about 14.85 cubic feet of cement debris scattered amidst the arid landscape which matched materials at a construction site nearby where the suspect was later apprehended.
The alleged perpetrator of this environmental offense is one Carlos A. Moreno, 21, identified and arrested on charges of Illegal Dumping ranging between 5 pounds and 500 pounds, or 5 gallons to 100 cubic feet, with a bond set at $1,500 as per El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte.
