A man in El Paso, Texas, is facing multiple charges after deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle accident last week. As per the Facebook post by El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte, the incident unfolded on September 29 when the suspect attempted to flee the scene and resist arrest.

Witnesses at the 7700 block of De Alva Drive reported that after the accident, the suspect climbed over a wall and disappeared into the nearby desert. The deputies launched a search and, upon finding the suspect, a foot chase ensued. Isaiah Gomez, 23, is said to have become hostile when approached by law enforcement. In the course of the arrest, he allegedly hit, kicked, and spat at the deputies. Gomez ended up being detained after the altercation.

Gomez now faces several charges, including Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of 0.15 or higher, Resisting arrest, and Assault on a Peace Officer, among others. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with bonds totaling over $20,000. Specific bond amounts ranged from $2,000 for Evading Arrest or Detention up to $10,000 for the assault charge.
