In an effort to sustain and innovate within the realm of conservation, xAI, led by the entrepreneur Elon Musk, commemorated the commencement of operations for its $80 million Colossus Water Recycling Plant this morning. The plant features the largest ceramic membrane bioreactor worldwide and is structured to process a remarkable volume of up to 13 million gallons of wastewater per day, thus, alleviating the need to draw from the Memphis Aquifer for industrial functions and most notably for the cooling of the company’s monumental Colossus supercomputers in southwest Memphis, as reported by WREG.
The Memphis City Council had previously in March approved the sale of approximately 13 acres of city property to xAI for the purpose of this innovative wastewater recycling facility; back in March, the Memphis City Council had given its second and final approval to sell land to Elon Musk's xAI for a water recycling facility.
Local Memphis reports that this development is part of a larger initiative by xAI to expand its technological and environmental footprint within the Memphis area, with Colossus I and Colossus II facilities already in place and contributing to the company's growing presence.
