A lawsuit has been filed against former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez and Fox Corporation following an alleged stabbing incident in Indianapolis. The plaintiff, 69-year-old Perry Tole, is seeking punitive and compensatory damages, claiming permanent disfigurement from the altercation that reportedly took place early Saturday morning. Sanchez, who was in town for the Colts vs. Raiders game as a Fox Sports analyst, is facing multiple charges, including felony battery.

The conflict started over a parking issue when Tole, a commercial cooking oil recycling and disposal truck driver, was approached by Sanchez at a loading dock of The Westin Indianapolis hotel. According to a lawsuit cited by The Daily Beast, Sanchez, allegedly in a drunken state, instigated the altercation that turned violent. Court documents state Tole first used pepper spray in self-defense which proved ineffective, leading to a physical struggle where Tole ultimately pulled a knife. Ryan Mears, Marion County prosecutor, outlined the events to reporters Monday.

Sanchez was later arrested Sunday and is currently pleading not guilty to the charges while hospitalized for stabbing wounds. Tole, after ramping up the legal response following a misdemeanor charge upgrade by prosecutors, has directed his legal grievances toward both Sanchez and Fox Corporation. The lawsuit, as reported by 13News, includes allegations of negligent hiring, retention, and supervision on the part of Fox Corporation, with both them and Sanchez being given a 20-day period to respond to the suit.

Details within the lawsuit allege that Sanchez blocked Tole from retrieving his cellphone to call for help and tried to enter Tole's work truck without permission. The situation escalated as described in a statement obtained by the New York Post, with Tole using pepper spray in self-defense, only for it to be ineffective against Sanchez. The fight that ensued resulted in significant injuries to Tole's head, jaw, and neck.
