Minneapolis residents are getting another chance to weigh in on the proposed renaming of the Cepro Site to Parque Monarca. The second, and final, public hearing is set for October 9 at 6 pm, and will take place at the Mary Merrill Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Headquarters, according to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
The Cepro Site, a 1.65-acre patch of green tucked neatly next to the Midtown Greenway bike trail between 10th and 11th Avenues S, is no stranger to transformation. After Hennepin County snatched it up in 2000 to bolster Midtown Greenway Phase 2, it saw its grain elevators crumble in 2004, with greenway connections sprouting by 2007. Since 2011, the site has blossomed through various placemaking and landscaping efforts.
For those itching to toss their hat into the public discourse, there are several ways to get your voice heard. In-person participation is welcome at the hearing: just sign your name on the dotted line at the front desk before 6 pm. If speaking up in public isn't your jam, dial 612-230-6400 by 3 pm on the day of the hearing to reserve a spot on the speakers' list.
