In a solemn social media post yesterday, the Fishers Fire Department marked an enduring legacy of selflessness and sacrifice, commemorating the 58th anniversary of Assistant Chief Raymond 'Bud' Moulder's death in the line of duty. On a fateful day nearly six decades ago, Assistant Chief Moulder tragically lost his life after a wall collapsed while he was saving someone from a raging fire. The Fishers Fire Department tribute stated, "Today, the Fishers Fire Department honors the memory of Assistant Chief Raymond 'Bud' Moulder."
Assistant Chief Moulder's memory lives on through the annual graveside ceremony held in his honor, a testament to his enduring influence, Moulder's legacy is felt not just in the yearly tributes but also in the ongoing support for his surviving family. The department's post reflected, "It was a privilege to have members of Chief Moulder’s family join us in honoring his memory," underscoring an unbroken bond between the firefighter's kin and his former colleagues.
The tribute resonates beyond ceremonial remembrance, highlighting the unquantifiable loss of a husband and father. Moulder, survived by his wife Virginia and their five children, left a void in the fabric of their lives that has been woven through generations. "Our thoughts remain with his wife, Virginia, and the entire Moulder family, who are still very much part of our fire family," says the Fishers Fire Department's post, a reflection of the intertwined lives of the Moulder family and the firefighting community.
