Residents of Fisk, Missouri, and others who travel Route 51 may want to be aware of an upcoming MoDOT meeting. Scheduled for October 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Fisk Community Center (508 Garfield St.), the public meeting will cover details about an upcoming bridge replacement project.
The St. Francis River bridge in Butler County is set for a major upgrade. MoDOT has labeled the current structure as “aging,” and plans are in place to replace it with a newer, wider bridge. The existing bridge is just 21 feet wide, while the new design will expand that to 36 feet.
During construction, traffic will be detoured to Route DD in Fisk. Although the nearby Fisk St. Francis River access will remain open, boaters will be restricted from traveling south while the project is underway. The project is scheduled to be awarded in November 2026. Construction is expected to begin early in 2027 and is planned to be completed approximately nine months after it starts.
For more information on this bridge replacement and the impact it will have on the community, you can check out the official MoDOT website.
