Chaos erupted near Howard University last Friday during its homecoming celebrations, resulting in five individuals being wounded by gunfire. As reported by Fox Baltimore, the shooting occurred on the 600 block of Howard Place NW, adjacent to the university campus. Metropolitan Police Department and D.C. Fire and EMS officials confirmed that none of the injured were students of Howard University. However, a student from Morgan State University, who was likely in attendance for the YardFest event, was among those injured.
While the university had just concluded its Homecoming YardFest festivities, gunfire broke out at 8:23 p.m., causing the police to immediately jump into action and find three men, a woman, and a teen boy with non-life-threatening injuries, as per officials' report, as detailed by WMAR2 News.
They reported that two suspects have been apprehended, and three firearms were recovered at the scene. Wrapped up shortly after the celebration, roads near the university were reopened moments before the shooting ensued.
