A somber account unfolds in Flagstaff, where a local woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of her mother. Flagstaff Police were initially called to the scene over a noise complaint earlier yesterday, only to discover a chilling domestic tragedy.
Responding to a disturbance near Route 66 and Elden Street, police heard a gunshot from inside the home upon their arrival, ABC15 reports. The resident, identified as Mea Brodie, acknowledged the discharge of a firearm, then seemingly attempted to impede the officer's entry. Brodie was quickly detained, allowing officers to proceed with a welfare check inside the residence.
Inside, the officers found Doris Brodie, Mea’s mother, deceased with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The discovery was made in the living room of the home situated at 16 East Terrace Avenue, as FOX10 Phoenix details. It has been confirmed that the victim was the mother of the suspect, painting a grim picture of familial violence.
Subsequent to the discovery, Mea Brodie was taken into custody and is now facing a murder charge. While the noise that summoned police to the scene has led to this grim investigation, the original motivator behind the shooting, remains shrouded in mystery. Inquiries into the incident continue as authorities piece together the circumstances leading to Doris Brodie's death.
As the Flagstaff Police delve deeper into the case, they call on anyone with information to come forward. The department can be reached at 928-774-1414.
