Flagstone Foods, a prominent player in the snack food industry, has decided to implement a major operational shift at its El Paso facility, which will see the site underutilized and the workforce substantially reduced. This strategic move will directly impact over 200 employees, with the company announcing that downsizing will commence in 2026. This decision marks a significant change for the facility, which has been integral to the company's distribution network.
According to KFOX-TV, Flagstone Foods will concentrate operations for its Emerald Nuts brand at the El Paso location, turning it into a 'Center of Excellence' for the product line. Meanwhile, private label production will be relocated to other Flagstone facilities located in Robersonville, North Carolina, and Dothan, Alabama. These changes aim to refine the company's production and cater to customer demands more efficiently, likely led by evolving consumer preferences.
Further details presented by KVIA reveal that the workforce reduction will affect 225 employees residing in the community adjacent to the El Paso International Airport. The upshot is a heightened local focus on Emerald Nuts, while private label goods, prior staples of the El Paso operations, transition to alternate locations within the Flagstone portfolio.
"We recognize that this decision impacts the lives of many of our team members and their families. Our colleagues have performed well, and this is no reflection on their work but simply a necessary transition in our operations to best serve our customers," a Flagstone Foods spokesperson said, as obtained by KTSM. Flagstone Foods has pledged to support affected employees, offering severance packages and job search assistance to facilitate their transition into new career opportunities.
