The Forest Grove community is rallying together in the search for 78-year-old Thomas Weightman, reported missing since Tuesday, October 14th, as efforts intensify in the surrounding areas. According to a statement from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, relatives of Weightman have expressed concern after he departed from a family residence around 10 a.m. and did not return; he later communicated via cell phone, indicating he had fallen into a hole and was unable to specify his location. Despite attempts, cell phone triangulation has not successfully pinpointed his whereabouts in the dense and uneven terrain.
Thomas, with his distinctive gray hair and beard, glasses, and attire of a red flannel button-up shirt, equipped with black shoes, blue jeans, and a dark-colored baseball hat, has spurred the community into action; the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team calls on residents especially those located along Gales Creek Road to aid by scouring their properties, their efforts spanning from NW Wilson River Highway to NW Mystic Drive, flanked by an eastern boundary of NW Shearer Road. Those with any information or sightings of Thomas after 3:30 p.m. on the day of his disappearance are urged to contact the non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 and, if located, to dial 911 promptly.
