As reported by FOX 5, the Public Works Department of Forest Park confirmed that this subterranean breakage rendered the road unserviceable, necessitating an immediate shutdown for forthcoming repairs.
Commencing in the wake of Monday's incident, crews conducted a thorough assessment of the damage and while the repairs are yet to begin, Tuesday has been set as the day when the extensive reconstruction efforts are poised to be initiated, officials have marked the scale of the damage as the reason for the delay meanwhile caution is urged amongst residents and the larger commuting public, Atlanta News First indicates.
The Forest Park Public Works Department has asked the public to stay away from the damaged site. They announced that crews, working with Clayton County officials, will return on Oct. 28 to make permanent repairs. The situation may change as work continues, as per Atlanta News First.
