Commuters in Foristell should prepare for changes as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced a road closure related to the I-70 improvement project. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Oct. 27, the North Service Road west of Route W at the Interstate 70 and Route T/W interchange will be closed to all traffic for 60 days, according to MoDOT. The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions.

To maintain access to areas west of the closure, MoDOT has designated a temporary exit from the westbound I-70 on-ramp at the interchange for the westbound North Service Road. However, this arrangement does not accommodate eastbound traffic; drivers traveling east will be redirected to the Elm Street interchange in Wright City (exit 200). The North Service Road east of the Route T/W interchange will remain open to two-way traffic.

The closure is part of the larger Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project, covering the eastern segment of the interstate. Awarded in November 2024, the project aims to increase the highway's capacity and safety by adding a third lane. As part of this effort, the interchange at I-70 and Route T/W is being redesigned to accommodate the additional lane in both directions to address growing traffic demands.

Funding for the interstate improvements comes from Missouri’s FY2024 budget, with $2.8 billion allocated from the General Revenue. As per MoDOT, this funding will support the planning, design, construction, and rehabilitation needed to add a lane along the approximately 200-mile stretch between Blue Springs and Wentzville. Construction work on I-70 is scheduled to continue through 2028.
