For Fountain Hills residents preparing to declutter their homes of potentially dangerous wares, the town has partnered with Republic Services to facilitate an environmentally conscious purge. The 2025 Household Hazardous Waste event is set to take place at Fountain Hills High School, providing locals with a safe way to dispose of their household hazards. The event, detailed in an announcement on the Town of Fountain Hills website, will be held on November 8, from 8am to noon.
The disposal service is a critical measure in preventing environmental contamination and potential harm to public health. Participating homeowners are asked to bring identification or proof of residency, as the event is exclusive to residents of the Town of Fountain Hills. Items acceptable for drop-off range from automotive fluids to outdated medications, each poised for proper disposal away from the vulnerable ecosystems that could be affected by their toxicity or flammable nature.
While many items are allowed at the event, some materials won’t be accepted. The Town of Fountain Hills has stated that things like ammunition, explosives, and biomedical waste (such as needles or bodily fluids) are not allowed because they require special handling.
