Fido and friends will have to sit and stay away from their favorite play spot for a couple of days, folks. Garland's popular Dog Park is taking a brief pause on the fun and games due to some necessary maintenance. Let's face it, even our canine companions' beloved stomping grounds need a tune-up now and then, especially when it comes to keeping things bright and shiny after the sun goes down.
According to the City of Garland website, the lights at the park are currently out of action—in dire need of a fix. Having a well-lit space is vital, not just for the safety of our tail-wagging buddies, but also for the humans who accompany them. Lest one trips over a Frisbee or, heaven forbid, something less desirable. The park closed its gates for this brief interlude on October 15 and is scheduled to reopen its gates on Friday, October 17.
Dog owners are being asked to exhibit a bit of that famous dogged patience during this short downtime. "We appreciate you patience and apologize for any inconvenience," reads the City of Garland's statement. The emphasis on safety and upkeep is clear—even if it means interrupting our regular schedules of fetch and frolick. Despite playing unsupervised in the park, maintenance crews will be diligently at work fixing the lights during the closure, to ensure that night-time play can resume posthaste.
