Ohio's top state officials are making rounds to spotlight educational advancements, with Governor Mike DeWine's latest stop being Emerson Elementary School in Lakewood. Accompanied by First Lady Fran DeWine and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin, the visit marked the second stop of the Governor's Literacy Leaders Tour.
The tour, as reported by the Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's Office, aims to shine a light on schools that have effectively integrated the Science of Reading into their curriculum. Touring at Emerson Elementary School showcased strides the school has made in reading and literacy, demonstrating the positive outcomes of literacy education when it's set as a school district's top priority.
"When schools embrace the Science of Reading, students gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the classroom and in life," Ohio Governor Mike DeWine told his office's news release. This initiative not only hails the work of schools like Emerson Elementary but also seeks to stimulate similar educational dynamics across the state.
Under the spotlight with the literacy tour continuing, Ohio schools are finding themselves at the center of the state's push towards educational excellence. As the governor's tour makes its rounds, it's hoped that more school districts will emulate the reading and literacy paradigms set forth by places already excelling, like Emerson.
