A fatal car accident in Plaquemines Parish claimed the life of a Gretna man and left another in critical condition. On Wednesday, around the early morning hour of 6:20 a.m., a 2019 GMC Sierra veered off the road on LA 39 near Water Plant Road and overturned, as reported by Louisiana State Police Troop B.
56-year-old Ryan Riley, a passenger in the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. Identified as an unrestrained passenger, he succumbed to serious injuries, according to officials. The identity of the driver, who was also unrestrained and sustained serious injuries, has not been released. After being transported to a local hospital, the driver's condition was described as critical. Toxicology samples were collected as part of the investigation, which aims to reveal the cause of the accident.
