A 51-year-old man from Grosse Pointe Farms, Dwayne Eugene Howell, has been charged with the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl from Detroit. He faces two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 13-15-year-old, accosting a minor for immoral purposes, and refusing to provide a DNA sample, according to The Detroit News.
Howell, a friend of the victim's family, reportedly picked up the victim from her Detroit school on May 28 and took her to his house on Belanger Street in Grosse Pointe Farms, where the assault is alleged to have happened, the Grosse Pointe Farms Police said. He was arrested on Monday and arraigned on Wednesday. A judge set his bond at $200,000 and required a GPS tether for monitoring, as noted by FOX 2 Detroit.
Howell is facing a probable cause conference on October 29. He is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and could face up to life in prison for each count, as stated by Deadline Detroit.
