Community members, local leaders, and public safety personnel recently gathered to honor first responders in Gwinnett County for saving a man who suffered a heart attack in July at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. According to Gwinnett County's official website, sheriff's deputies began CPR, used an AED, and called for emergency assistance.
Within four minutes, Fire Station 15's crew arrived and continued care. The patient’s heartbeat was restored during transport to the hospital. At the ceremony, Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson expressed gratitude for the responders’ service.
Fire Chief Fred Cephas noted the cooperation between teams and the importance of training and preparation. Honorees included members of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office and Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, such as Assistant Chief James Casey, Major Dontae Royal, and Firefighter/EMT Devin Smith.
