An early-morning fire today forced the closure of Hampton, New Hampshire’s Old Salt and Lamie’s Inn. The blaze, which started in the attic around 5:14 a.m., was controlled with the help of sprinklers, NBC Boston reports. One firefighter was injured, and the inn’s occupants were safely evacuated.
The restaurant’s management announced a temporary shutdown to allow for cleanup and assessment. On The Old Salt and Lamie's Inn's post on Facebook, owners thanked the community for its support and said they are working to reopen as soon as possible.
This is the second significant fire to affect the business; a 1999 fire destroyed the original Old Salt location at Hampton Beach, as per the News Center Maine report. No cause has been reported for the current fire, and no other injuries were noted.
