A fatal collision occurred on Louisiana Highway 9 near Forest Grove Road, as reported by the Louisiana State Police. The two-vehicle crash, which took place around 12:35 p.m, claimed the life of 66-year-old Paul Hammon, Jr. of Homer. According to the Louisiana State Police, Hammon was driving a 1999 Mack truck northbound in the southbound lane when his vehicle collided head-on with a 2007 Peterbilt 379.
Despite being properly restrained, Hammon sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash investigation, which is still ongoing, aims to determine why the Mack truck was traveling in the opposing lane. The driver of the Peterbilt, also properly restrained at the time of crash, suffered minor injuries and was being transported to a local hospital, impairment is not suspected, but standard toxicology samples from the drivers were collected for analysis.

According to their statement, the goal is to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome.
