On the afternoon of October 1, a fire ravaged a single-story home in Nanakuli, leading the Honolulu Fire Department to swiftly respond with a sizeable team. As reported by the Honolulu Fire Department, the emergency call was placed at 2:33 p.m., and within seven minutes, the first of twelve units arrived to confront the blaze that had fully engulfed the residence near 87-1648 Farrington Highway.
Firefighters had to be cautious because the building was unstable, but they managed to control the fire by 4:41 p.m. and put it out shortly after 5 p.m., according to officials. The response involved 40 Honolulu Fire Department personnel, and thankfully, no one was hurt.
The fire left seven people—five adults and two children—without a home. The American Red Cross stepped in to help them find shelter and basic needs. An investigation into the fire's origin and cause is currently underway, with damages yet to be assessed.
