A house fire occurred in Indianapolis, displacing two families and damaging three homes on the near north side. Firefighters responded for over an hour. As per WTHR, the fire started around 5:45 a.m. today near the intersection of East 30th Street and North Delaware Street. A vacant two-story house was destroyed, and nearby homes sustained damage. No injuries were reported.

The Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) dispatched about 70 firefighters to the scene, where they encountered heavy fire and smoke and requested additional resources. Residents of the neighboring homes and their pets evacuated safely, according to Battalion Chief Rita Reith in an interview with Fox59. The unoccupied residence where the fire started was in the process of being settled, with utilities not yet connected.

With smoke visible for miles, the Indianapolis Fire Department worked to contain the fire and assist the displaced families. IFD Victims Assistance coordinated with affected individuals to provide shelter and other resources, as reported by Battalion Chief Rita Reith. Firefighters also addressed recurring hot spots that continued to reignite, preventing further damage.

IFD Battalion Chief Rita L. Reith told IndyStar that seven Indianapolis Fire Department stations were called to the scene to combat the fire due to its size.
