Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives have recently succeeded in apprehending a suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month, causing injury to two women and the shooter himself. According to a social media post by IMPD News, 46-year-old Terry Rowe Jr. is facing multiple preliminary charges after an incident spiraled into violence over a contested prescription.
The situation escalated quickly on the evening of October 7 when IMPD officers were called to a business on East 10th Street, where Rowe had reportedly become belligerent with the staff; simultaneously, multiple 911 calls indicated shots had been fired, and people were injured, which pushed officers to the scene, arriving to find two women with gunshot wounds and an adult male who acknowledged discharging a firearm during the altercation, he voluntarily surrendered the weapon and was detained but was later released after consultations with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO). Amid the chaos and confusion that often ensues when gunfire shatters the veil of public tranquility, it's the community that often holds the key—a principle demonstrated as witnesses remained to impart crucial details to law enforcement.
Subsequent to the shooting, IMPD's Aggravated Assault detectives undertook a meticulous inquiry, buttressed by search warrants that yielded further evidence and the testimonies from additional witnesses. Through this diligent investigative process, which unfolded over the following week, they identified Rowe as the perpetrator, leading to his arrest on October 13 with assistance from the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit (VCU).
The list of preliminary charges lodged against Rowe is lengthy and severe, encompassing allegations of aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and multiple counts related to weapon offenses and narcotics; notably, the accused faces charges of dealing in methamphetamine, among other accusations suggesting a troubled path that led to the confrontation and gunfire.
