Drivers in Jefferson City can now use U.S. Route 50 and the surrounding ramps again following the completion of bridge rehabilitation work over Vetter Lane. The project, which began on Sept. 8, was finished yesterday, about a month ahead of schedule, allowing traffic to return to normal. MoDOT reports that the work addressed necessary repairs while minimizing disruption for commuters.
The project, carried out by E & C Bridge, LLC in collaboration with MoDOT, focused on enhancing the structural integrity and longevity of the bridge. Work included replacing bridge joint seals, applying substructure coatings, and repairing and overlaying the bridge deck. The work was completed ahead of the original November deadline. According to MoDOT, rehabilitation on 10 of the 11 bridges in the Jefferson City bridge bundle is now complete, with only the Bolivar Street bridge over U.S. Route 50 scheduled for work in 2026.
As per MoDOT, no further traffic impacts are expected for the remainder of the year. The agency also reminded motorists to follow safe driving practices, including wearing seatbelts, avoiding cell phone use, obeying traffic signs, and slowing down or moving over in work zones to protect both drivers and construction crews.
Additional work is planned for Jefferson City's roadways. Beyond bridge rehabilitation, MoDOT has scheduled the removal of a trilevel bridge that is no longer in use, with the project set for 2026. Schedules are subject to change, and residents and travelers are encouraged to stay informed about projects that may affect their commutes.
