The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Inland Fisheries Section, in partnership with Responsible Anglers United (RAU), has introduced 32,000 pure Florida Bass into Lake Boeuf. The stocking, conducted on Friday last week, marks the start of a multi-year study to examine how the bass interact with the local fish population, according to a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries report.

Before the stocking, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries collected genetic samples through electrofishing surveys across Lake Boeuf and its canal system to establish a baseline for monitoring future impacts. Additional stockings are planned through 2027.

The project is part of LDWF’s collaboration with local stakeholders to support fisheries management and research. Meanwhile, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF) has launched a raffle offering a $60,000 Chevy Silverado as a prize, with proceeds supporting LDWF programs such as habitat restoration, wildlife research, public access, and education initiatives.
