The city of Mankato is hosting an event aimed at teaching the community about fire safety and prevention. This Sunday, the Mankato Department of Public Safety opens its doors for an informative open house where attendees can gain valuable knowledge on handling fire emergencies.
Fire Marshal Sean Hayes and Captain Jay Kopischke are leading the event, designed to fully engage residents in the basics of fire safety. According to a social media post from Mankato Police and Fire, the open house is scheduled to take place between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The program includes lessons on how to properly use a fire extinguisher, a live cooking fire demonstration, and an opportunity to meet local firefighters. Participants will also be able to tour the fire station and inspect fire trucks and equipment firsthand.
In addition to these hands-on experiences, the event promises to provide educational materials tailored for children and families. One of the goals of the open house is to demonstrate how simple behavior changes can significantly reduce fire risks at home.
