Following a tense morning that placed Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School in lockdown, authorities have confirmed that Marvin Guth, the man at the epicenter of the incident, has been taken into custody. According to ClickOrlando, Guth's vehicle was discovered on the school property, leading to lockdown procedures being quickly implemented. Alongside this, the nearby Enterprise Elementary School also initiated protective measures, implementing a "Shelter in Place" protocol due to the proximity of the events.
Deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office identified the owner of the vehicle as Marvin Guth, who had an active warrant stemming from a failure to appear in court. Reported by FOX 35 Orlando, the warrant was related to an earlier case, where Guth was accused of threatening an elementary school. The school lockdown, which began around 9 a.m., was lifted around 10:20 a.m., after it was confirmed that the students were safe and the suspect was not located on the premises.
While the Brevard County Sheriff's Office carried out an exhaustive search of the school grounds, Guth was ultimately apprehended at his residence. In a discussion with ClickOrlando, one concerned parent, Rick Fleckenstein, commented, "It’s crazy times we live in, you know," reflecting the community's anxiety over the situation.
Additional charges may be pending as investigators piece together the sequence of events. Guth's history with law enforcement includes a March arrest following threats made against deputies and an elementary school, and an encounter in which, upon being found trespassing, he allegedly threatened to harm children and burn down the school.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has dispelled rumors that Guth crashed through a gate at the school, clarifying misinformation that circulated on social media platforms.
