Loudon residents in areas including Butler Drive and Club Drive are under a 24-hour boil water advisory after a water main break, due to potential contamination. Residents are instructed to boil water before drinking or using it for food, according to WATE.
Loudon Utilities issued a precautionary shutdown of the water system on Wednesday due to a failure that could allow "disease-causing organisms" to enter the distribution system, as reported by WBIR. The utilities warned of the health risks if the advisory’s instructions are not followed.
Residents are under a boil water advisory until on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and should bring water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes before use. All stored water and ice must be discarded.
