At a recent gathering in Mansura, the LOGT board presented $6,100 in rewards for valuable information leading to the apprehension of offenders and the issuance of citations for wildlife-related violations, as they discussed 15 noteworthy cases that arose from public tips.
Established in 1984, LOGT has stood as a collaborative force, uniting efforts between the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division and the state's own residents, aiming to put a halt to illegal hunting and fishing activities. During the October 1 meeting, a range of violations came under scrutiny, spanning deer poaching to commercial fishing infractions. The results were significant: 34 individuals found themselves on the wrong side of the law, facing a total of 134 citations thanks to vigilant public intervention.
Recognizing the crucial role that local informants play, LOGT offers rewards up to $1,000 for information that directly leads to an arrest or citation. The program ensures complete confidentiality and anonymity for those who come forward to report illegal activities, encouraging more citizens to participate without fear of reprisal.
