Macomb County residents are encouraged to participate in the 'Scouting for Food' event on Saturday, organized by the Community Food Bank of Macomb County and Scouting America. Local scouts will deliver grocery bags for residents to fill with non-perishable food items to help those in need, according to the Macomb County.

Filled bags should be placed on porches for pickup on November 8, before 9 a.m. Donations can also be dropped off at Weingartz, 46061 Van Dyke in Utica, to be distributed through the food bank’s network of pantries and outreach programs, as reported by the Macomb County.

"This year’s Scouting for Food collection event marks the 14th year of the partnership between Scouting America and the Community Food Bank of Macomb County," said Linda Azar, division director at Macomb Community Action. Since 2020, the event has collected an average of 15,000 pounds of food each year. Azar added, "We encourage everyone to participate." The community is asked to donate food to help people in Macomb County who are facing food insecurity this winter.
