
A man was left in critical condition following a shooting incident in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood on Wednesday evening. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the 32-year-old was shot twice in the back at approximately 9:05 p.m. while walking on the 1000 block of South State Street.
The assailant reportedly approached the victim on foot and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The victim was subsequently transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was described as critical. As of now, there have been no arrests made in connection with the shooting, and Chicago police from Area 3 are continuing their investigation into the incident. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
In a report by ABC 7 Chicago, the details of the shooting were echoed with additional information that the victim, after being wounded, was able to speak with responding officers, telling them that the male suspect had taken out a handgun and shot him before fleeing on foot.
