A 61-year-old man died following a carjacking in New Orleans’ French Quarter last night, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD). The incident occurred around 8:37 p.m. at the intersection of Bienville and Burgundy streets, WGNO reported. Police said the victim was struggling with the suspect when the vehicle, a white Kia, rolled over and pinned him underneath.

The man was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries, as per WDSU.

The NOPD has not identified a suspect or determined a motive and continues to investigate. FOX 8 Live reported that anyone with information should contact the NOPD or Crime Stoppers.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy, and the victim’s name will be released after the family is notified, WGNO stated. The area, part of the busy French Quarter, was closed for investigation following the incident.
