
A tragic incident unfolded yesterday in the Westwood neighborhood when a train collided with a vehicle, resulting in the death of a man, local authorities confirmed. According to Action News 5, Memphis Police Department officers were called to the scene of the crash near West Raines Road and Ridge Road shortly before 7:10 a.m., where the man was found and pronounced dead.
The Memphis Police Department (MPD) also indicated that they responded just after 8 a.m. to the crash site on West Raines Road to quickly investigate a fatal encounter between a steel rail and a spinning wheel. FOX13 Memphis reported the timing slightly differently, but with the same end — a life abruptly ended on a road just west of Ridge Road.
First responders to the collision found the vehicle had sustained significant damage from the impact with the train. As of now, details surrounding the cause of the crash remain unclear. At the time of the incident, the police had not released information about potential factors leading up to the tragic event.
