A violent altercation in the Vollintine-Evergreen neighborhood of North Memphis resulted in a man being shot several times last Saturday. The Memphis Police Department reported the incident after the victim was rushed to Regional One Health for treatment.
According to Action News 5, the shooting occurred around 12:15 AM at the intersection of N Evergreen Street and Hunter Avenue. A witness promptly transported the injured man to the hospital after observing a dispute that escalated when a third individual attempted to intervene, in which the suspect brandished a firearm and fired upon the victim as he tried to flee.
The same event was reported by FOX13 Memphis, noting the victim's unsuccessful effort to escape after being shot. The aggressor is said to have fired multiple shots at him before leaving the scene.
A third account by WREG News adds depth to the narrative. They report that the violence stemmed from a verbal exchange that turned physical. The victim was reportedly shot eight times and uttered, "I don’t know how my cousin could’ve done this, over a ride," as he was being taken to the hospital. After the hospital alerted authorities, police found evidence of the shooting, including blood and a bullet projectile at the scene, along with a red truck sporting a broken taillight and blood on its exterior.
