A shooting in the parking lot of Lion Plaza in Lauderdale Lakes yesterday left one man injured after a minor traffic collision turned violent. According to surveillance video obtained by CBS News, the incident began when a silver sedan reversed into a gray SUV at 3411 W. Oakland Park Blvd. An argument followed, and the SUV driver allegedly shot the other driver in the chest.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office reported a related standoff in Fort Lauderdale near Northwest 28th Avenue, according to WSVN. Deputies and SWAT teams were on the scene for hours in connection to the case.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported as a trauma alert to Broward Health Medical Center, according to Broward County Fire Rescue. The extent of his injuries has not been confirmed.
Witnesses told CBS News they saw the argument escalate before the shooting occurred. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating both the shooting and the related barricade situation.
