Authorities are searching for a suspect following a slashing incident at the 125th Street subway station in East Harlem. The incident took place last night when, according to ABC7NY, a man injured another man’s chin with a knife on the station stairs. The suspect reportedly fled the scene shortly after the attack, which occurred around 11:20 p.m.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Despite efforts to locate the suspect, described as wearing a brown sweatsuit, no arrests have been made. Authorities are looking into the connection between the two men.

A previous report by Gothamist indicated that the attack occurred on the stairs leading to the 4/5/6 train platform at around 11:30 p.m. The station, one of the busiest transit hubs in New York City, was reported to have the highest level of violent crime in 2023, according to a study by Vital City, a civic nonprofit organization.

The NYPD continues its investigation and officials are asking anyone with information to come forward.
